Broken Spoke, Mustang Lounge, and Mackinac Island Rum Co welcome the sailing community to celebrate the return of yacht race season and enjoy a short bar crawl to three of Mackinac Island’s most popular establishments, “a three hour tour” if you will. This inaugural event seeks to connect sailors in town for the yacht race with the unique sailor influenced experiences Mackinac Island has to offer.
Started in 1898, the race annually hosts over 3,000 sailors and covers 333 statute miles, starting from Chicago's Navy Pier on Lake Michigan and finishing at Mackinac Island, Mich. on Lake Huron. The “Chicago Mac Race” is the oldest annual freshwater distance race in the world, and it has earned a reputation as one of the most prestigious sailing races, with entries from the Midwest and Canada as well as the East, West and Gulf Coasts of the U.S. and as far afield as Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. This year marks the 112th running of the famous Chicago to Mackinac sailboat race, run by the Chicago Yacht Club.
