Last week, the Volvo group presented a plan to become a net-zero operation through hitting science-based targets. They cited a project to develop and commercialize fuel-cell systems with commercial trucks as their initial focus.
Volvo Penta is doing its part by significantly accelerating its own sustainability projects to reach zero emissions via fossil-free, renewable fuels, electric and hybrid technology.
In order to achieve these goals, they’ve announced that Seven Marine outboard production is to be halted and phased out once they’ve met their current demand.
President of Volvo Penta Heléne Mellquist released this statement.
Current outboard customers of Seven Marine will still have support via full warranty and parts responsibility from Volvo Penta.
