Invictus Invades U.S.

Italian yacht builder is determined to bring flair to the industry

November 2020 Feature Brady L. Kay

Beyond the traditional dayboat, the Invictus Yacht GT 370 turned a lot of heads when it was first unveiled at the Miami Yacht Show back in February. It was the first official showing for the Italian manufacturer in the U.S. and it turned out to be more than just a successful first step for newly-formed Invictus Yacht USA.

For the past three years the Italian tender and dayboat builder has been extremely successful in Europe and even managed to sell a few boats to American clients, despite not having a dealer network or a dedicated office stateside until now.

Since beginning in the European market, the builder has firmly established its image, which has always been a distinguishing trait of the Italian shipyard: great variety of features, considerable attention to detail, ever original style and strong character that always delivers elegance.

As members of the media, this was our first glimpse behind the curtain of this boat builder and we came away with a better understanding as well as appreciation for the lofty goals and expectations Invictus Yacht USA has set for itself.

Based on two primary principles, Invictus is determined to bring a little more flair to the marketplace through collaboration with a well-established design studio, Christian Grande. The Italian designer has won many Italian and international awards for his out-of-the-box thinking and the made in Italy aesthetics and traits are clearly noticeable in this GT line.

The second principle for Invictus is to be able to offer their customers the ability to customize their craft down to even the littlest detail, all on a hull capable of providing an amazing ride.

And while overall performance is important to the manufacturer, when asked at the press conference for the top speed of the new GT 370 the reply was short and to the point. The Invictus Yacht reps simply stated they didn’t care how fast it can go as speed is not it first priority, but rather being safe, solid with no vibration is its focus.

The refreshing response was well-received by members of the media and let those in attendance know the manufacturer’s priorities are firmly centered on building a quality boat.

GT 370 US Debut

The Miami Yacht Show 2020 was an opportunity for the Italian shipyard to make its debut in US boat shows. Invictus Yacht exhibited the GT 370, equipped with two gas-powered sterndrive Volvo Penta engines (430 hp each), capable of speeds in the 50 mph range for those who do care and this new model is also available in an outboard version with similar qualities. The sterndrive version on display in Miami was in the most iconic color of the Invictus Yacht range, Vanilla Sea, combined with Cognac cushions.

The characteristic reverse bow, the lateral windows integrated into the hull and the widespread quality detailing that is typical of the brand take on a new dimension with the GT 370 and are dedicated to the owners who want to take the next step up in the world of Invictus yachts.
Ever more spacious and comfortable she hosts two large cabins below deck that can be personalized based on the needs of the owner: the ample stern cabin comes with two single beds that can be brought together as one, hosting three children or two adults with comfort to spare; the bow cabin can be set up with a third berth or, if the owner so chooses, with a long settee and matching table to one side, with a corner bar and television, creating a comfortable and scenographic living area.

This dual configuration was conceived to satisfy the widest target possible, including the elite Invictus target, and reminds us that the vessel can be used as a mega-yacht tender, or for luxurious waterfront villas or for short cruises, guaranteeing the owner the most space possible, especially when comparing the GT to other offerings in the same market segment.
The single lateral windows are unique, not only for their increased size, but also for their dual level and for the noteworthy material nature of the inset, enhancing the Invictus tradition of elegant shapes sculpted right into the material.

As mentioned, the larger size has allowed more freedom to design the deck layout and equipment: the helm and navigation station, fitted out with three oversized and enveloping chairs for the driver’s comfort and two others, just to begin with. Of special interest is the opening side platform to port that not only increases the vessel's fascination and available space, but actually increases freedom of movement and the facilitates cockpit use when on board.
An interesting feature is the submersible stern deck, unheard of before for this size and type of vessel, a sure advantage in flexibility and enjoyment while using the yacht. The rich detailing and assortment of standard accessories doesn't end here, but also includes a mobile bar incorporated in the stern settees that holds a compact kitchen with sink, refrigerator, ice-maker and special lockers.

The central area of the deck evolves around an extendable table, closely integrated with an ample “L” shaped sofa with fully reclining backrests that transform the entire area into a huge cushioned sunbathing zone. The “L” shaped sofa is part of the starboard bulkhead and opens to its left to let you fully appreciate the view of the sea through the opening made by lowering the optional side platform.
All the furnishings and upholstery are obviously in state of the art materials with the latest styling, enriched by special quality leathers and made even more precious thanks to the chromed stainless steel trim covered with special leather that not only underlines the Invictus heritage but adds value to the whole and increases the aesthetic beauty and usefulness of the living spaces.

U.S.A.

The decision to expand across the Atlantic is fueled by a desire to improve and to gain creative and organizational tips from a new audience rather than by a specific need.

Thanks to its current productive and financial position, the Italian shipyard is uniquely positioned to successfully enter a market that has repeatedly proven to be very receptive to the qualities and values embodied by the crossed shield trademark.

The expansion in the American market is managed by a dedicated department, Invictus Yacht USA, which imports the models and develops a dealers’ network of excellence. The starting point has been Florida and the East Coast, but when asked specifically about the Great Lakes the manufacturer is already looking for quality dealers in New York and other major markets in our region.

Invictus Is Expanding: New TT460 flagship is coming

The new TT460 is set to launch this fall and will be the Italian shipyard’s new flagship model. It’s the perfect coupling of beautiful craftsmanship and inspired technology and the taut, essential lines are typical of Invictus hulls in which style and attention to performance are combined.

The manufacturer has worked hard to design a boat that brings the luxury of a larger yacht in a charmingly small package. Luxury isn’t the only thing that Invictus Yacht has managed to preserve – high power has also been maintained. The new TT460 will be equipped with two Volvo Penta IPS 650 engines and by utilizing Volvo Penta’s powerful new D6 Inboard Performance System (IPS), the new Invictus has the power of a much larger vessel. However, the compact design of the Volvo Penta D6 IPS package has meant that power has not had to compromise spaciousness. This has allowed the designer to focus on perfecting the details and customizing the space.
“The sea is not just a holiday destination or an enchanting background for a photograph – it is a way of life,” says Christian Grande, Invictus Yachts designer. “This yacht was born from the wish to give a shape to the energy and emotions of a day on board, when time seems to stop and you feel you could be as one with sun and waves. All this can be done without sacrificing style and that truly Italian elegance that adds value to any experience.”

The characterizing element of the new Invictus TT460 is the elegant style of the windscreen, from the bow to amidships, which blends seamlessly with the carbon hardtop and further enhances the impressive mass of this yacht.
