Whether you’re seeking adventure on the water or looking to enjoy the local cuisine and culture, Geneva is the premier destination. Located along Lake Erie’s eastern shore, Geneva Marina lies directly along the path of the Great Loop, and it is a perfect stop for boaters to sit back and relax during their travels.

The Marina And Its Amenities

Anne Wech, the general manager of Geneva Marina, shows a great deal of pride for her marina, along with the many services they offer.

“We get people here all the way from Florida and Virginia, and some as close as Chicago, as they pass through on the Great Loop,” Wech explained. “Since we’re one of the larger marinas on this side of the lake, we can take many transient mariners.”

With over 400 slips, Geneva Marina offers direct access to Lake Erie’s central basin, and a six-lane boat ramp provides plenty of room to ship out on your next adventure.

In addition to being one of the larger marinas along the eastern shoreline, the amenities that Geneva provides also bring in many recreational boaters. Free Wi-Fi and showers are readily available, and a local marine shop provides not only the chance to pick up souvenirs and other essentials, but also offers services like oil changes, detailing, trailer maintenance, winterizing and de-winterizing.

No fuel in the tank? No problem. The marina offers both gasoline and diesel to keep you and your family on the water for as long as you desire. The marina also carries Biosok for any who wish to keep their bilge area clean. Once this “sock” is tied near the engine, it releases microorganisms that attract oil and pollutants to the sock—which can be safely and easily disposed of.

The folks at Geneva Marina want to make sure your boating experience is as pleasant as possible, so there should be no limits to your fun.

A Stroll Through The Park

Geneva Marina is located at the heart of Geneva State Park, so there truly is something for everyone.

“Because of our location, we’ve got many different hiking trails and campgrounds. There’s also a really nice public beach for people to use,” said Wech.

If you’re looking for more adventure than what the water has to offer, there are designated spots in the park where hunting is permitted. From October 15 to February 28, visitors will have the chance to hunt wild game. Note: a valid Ohio hunting license is required and you can contact the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for more information. An archery range is also located within the park as well, for those looking for some good target practice.

A 300-foot swimming beach lies along the Lake Erie shoreline. If you need a chance to get your workout in, this beach would be the perfect place to get your feet wet. With six miles of trail weaving through the park, there are many opportunities to dust off your hiking boots too. Used by hikers, cross-country skiers, and snowmobilers, the park has something for everyone. And if you’re looking for paved trails, there are two miles available for attendees on non-motorized vehicles.

For a truly unique experience, visit the aerial adventure park. Located near the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake, Lake Erie Canopy Tours offers many zip-lining excursions for both kids and adults. From May until October, you’ll have your chance to soar. Rates will vary.

“The activities are what make Geneva such a unique place. It’s a very family-friendly marina,” Wech said. “It’s a real tourist destination.”

A Night On The Town

When the day on the lake draws to a close, there are still many things to experience at Geneva-on-the-Lake, the small town located near the marina.

“Geneva-on-the-Lake is like a 1950s beach town, with restaurants, bars, and even a miniature golf course, and it’s all within walking distance from the marina,” Wech explained.

There are numerous locations to dine with the entire family. Eddie’s Grill, Mary’s Kitchen, and Triangle Lounge offer many menu selections for everyone. For the adults, the wine selection is quite expansive. Since Geneva is in the heart of Ohio wine

country, there are many wineries and cellars to satisfy your inner sommelier. From Debonne Vineyards to the Virant Family Winery, there are dozens of options to choose from.

The oldest miniature golf course in the US, Allison’s Mini Golf, also calls Geneva-on-the-Lake home. Since 1924, Allison’s has been entertaining thousands of visitors. Don’t miss your chance to play 18 holes at this historic course.

More To Explore

Visiting Geneva opens the door to hundreds of experiences. This marina is a prime place to dock for anyone seeking adventure, anyone who desires to make memories, and anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“We truly are a friendly marina,” Wech exclaimed. “We want to help everyone who visits, even if it’s just to catch their lines and help them dock.”

With dozens of places to see and experience, there’s enough here to keep you and your family visiting for years to come.
