Collin’s Bay Marina is a 300-slip facility with docks suitable for boats ranging from 18 to 50 feet. Since its beginnings in 1971, Collins Bay has constantly been at work making sure the marina is up-to-date and has a track record of providing customers with the highest service.
Lori Buzzi and her husband, Gerry, are co-owners of this marina. And because they’re also from the hotel industry, it’s no surprise their marina feels so welcoming. They strive to make customers feel like family.
“We get to know their preferences, their priorities, and their families,” says Lori. “That translates from the hotel industry into this industry. It’s really important for my husband and I to provide that type of atmosphere for our customers. What’s also unique about our marina is that we’re privately run. We’re a family-owned marina.”
Beyond their family-oriented way of business, the facilities and services are unmatched, with access to both power and water provided for every slip. Fuel docks provide diesel fuel as well as ethanol-free gas, plus ice, drinks and engine oils. The Buzzi’s efforts to keep their marina working beautifully are unparalleled.
“Every year, there’s something new that we tackle and do. There’s always something to improve on, and new technology,” says Lori, who admits most of the improvements and maintenance to the marina are done by her husband, the other co-owner.
One of those recent updates was the washrooms that were totally renovated. According to the owners, Collins Bay received many comments from customers that their washrooms are the best on the lake.
“Our job is to make sure that our facilities are second-to-none, and we work really hard at that,” adds Lori.
Another one of these recent updates is the Wi-Fi. Having a good Wi-Fi connection can be really tricky with a fiberglass boat and being in an outdoor setting, but at Collins Bay Marina, they also strive to have the best Wi-Fi on the lake when you dock.
The floating docks at Collins Bay are of their own design and are made of steel pipe. Gerry is a welder by trade, which ensures the docks are always in tip-top shape, and that ownership is always in touch with the marina’s current condition. To ensure safety, these docks have wide walkways that are fully lit in the night. Each finger has four cleats, is wide enough to bring dock carts right to the boat, and has a corner fender to make sure boats don’t leave with any dents they didn’t arrive with.
Collins Bay has seasonal as well as transient dockage during the boating months of the summer. It’s apparent their facilities and customer service are a priority, because the Buzzis have a waitlist of boaters hoping to secure a spot.
“I feel that speaks wildly that people want to be here, and they’ve been hearing good things about us,” says Lori. “We also provide winter storage during the off season, which will allow us to store up to 200 boats.”
The current path that Collins Bay Marina is on indicates there will be no end to improving their facilities and their relationship-building.
“We love what we do, so that really makes a difference. It really helps,” adds Lori.
