GRAND HAVEN, MI -- The powerful gales that whipped the shores of Lake Michigan and brought hundreds of wave watchers to Grand Haven earlier this month was recently highlighted in the
Washington Post.
On Nov. 12, Lake Michigan waves crashed over lighthouses and washed over piers, as over 50 mph wind gusts were reported in Holland, Muskegon and South Haven.
Grand Haven city officials closed the pier the night before the storm because of the dangerous weather conditions that were approaching.
