CHICAGO, IL – It was 50 years ago that Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) got its start as the result of one man’s desire to make recreational boating better for boaters, sailors, and anglers. To celebrate this milestone, the nation’s largest recreational boat owner advocacy, services and safety organization announced today the fourth in a series of local celebrations to say thanks to its over half million members. A BoatUS “50th Anniversary Member Appreciation Event” will be held Thursday, July 28 at River Roast Social House, 315 N. LaSalle St., Chicago, IL. Members and friends of the association are invited to stop by anytime between 6:00PM and 9:00PM. BoatUS President Margaret Bonds Podlich will host the informal celebration with hors d’oeuvres and prizes – including a Star Clippers cruise for two.
