The Blue Flag has become a symbol for all those looking to enjoy clean beaches and marinas and is part of an international eco-certification program. When boaters see a Blue Flag flying, they know the marina not only has great facilities, but is also managed sustainably to protect the environment.
With Blue Flags flying in 47 countries around the world, a Blue Flag marina is truly a world class marina and this year marks the 30th anniversary of the program internationally.
Last year, seven Canadian marinas flew the Blue Flag including the Grand Bend Marina on Lake Huron and LaSealle Park Marina on Lake Ontario, with even more Canadian marinas expected to fly the flag this year. Below are the Blue Flag Beaches and Marinas for 2017 that are located on the Great Lakes:
