BoatUS Foundation asks boaters for support

November 2016 News Brady L. Kay

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season on November 29. The educational 501(c)(3) BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water asks boaters for their financial assistance on this day to help support the boating nonprofit’s missions to reduce boating accidents and fatalities and increase stewardship of our waterways. Boaters can go to BoatUS.org, to make a donation. Most of the Foundation’s funding comes directly from boaters and waterway users. Since 1981, it has offered the only

national life jacket loaner program for kids at more than 575 locations across the United States, the only free online boating-safety course that’s taken by more than 100,000 boaters each year and recognized by 34 states, and has funded more than $1.3 million in local boating-safety and clean-water grants allowing local communities to have a positive impact on their own waters.

“For boaters, this is the chance to make boating better and improve their own boating,” said Foundation president Chris Edmonston. For more, go to BoatUS.org.
