Lake levels continue running high, trend causes erosion concerns

by Caleb Whitmer, Holland Sentinel Holland, Mich.--Lakes Michigan and Huron, which share measurements due to their connection at the Straits of Mackinac, are currently at the highest level they have been at since the late 1990s. Following a decade and a half of low water, the two lakes have rebounded in a big way — a trend that has continued this summer. But while it has been a boon for boaters, more Lake Michigan has caused some complications for local beaches. Read the full story.
