CHICAGO, IL -- Three months ago, Chicago made maritime history when Lake Michigan was chosen as the first freshwater venue to host America's Cup racing in the event's 165-year history. Today, limited edition “Holiday Packs” are officially on sale for the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series Chicago race. This race is a qualifying event for the 2017 America's Cup in Bermuda and will take place June 10–12, 2016 at Navy Pier.
Celebrating its centennial in 2016, Navy Pier will serve as event headquarters June 10–12, 2016 as fans enjoy seeing high-performance 45' foiling catamarans race by at 40+ mph close to the Pier. The ticketed ‘Race Village’ on Navy Pier’s East End will offer front-row views of the race course and be packed with innovative displays, food, beverage and entertainment. Fans can also listen to expert insight with the live Dock-out and Dock-in shows bringing the sailing teams to the fans before and after racing and meet the sailors with daily autograph sessions after racing.
In honor of the 165-year history of America’s Cup, only 165 Race Village Holiday Packs will be available. In addition, in honor of Navy Pier's Centennial, 100 Grandstand Holiday Packs will be made available during the pre-sale.
