Rough Water for Tribe's Marina Plans

By Carol Thompson, Traverse City Record Eagle TRAVERSE CITY — A years-long effort to build a marina on West Grand Traverse Bay is motivated by more than dock space. The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians wants to "create a destination," said tribal architect Steve Feringa, and distinguish Peshawbestown and the Leelanau Sands Casino. "The gaming industry is saturated in Michigan, so we're trying to create a nice, unique destination here and have another offer for people in the boating industry," he said. Read the full story here.
