Ohio, Michigan and Ontario agree to work toward lower phosphorus levels in Lake Erie's western basin

by Robert Higgs, Northeast Ohio media Group Columbus bureau chief COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio, Michigan and Ontario have reached an agreement to reduce the amount of phosphorus, a key cause of algal blooms, entering Lake Erie's western basin. The agreement, to be signed Saturday, is a commitment by the three governments to work toward a 40 percent reduction in phosphorus in runoff by 2025, with an interim goal of 20 percent by 2020. http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2015/06/ohio_michigan_and_ontario_agre.html
