COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio, Michigan and Ontario have reached an agreement to reduce the amount of phosphorus, a key cause of algal blooms, entering Lake Erie's western basin.
The agreement, to be signed Saturday, is a commitment by the three governments to work toward a 40 percent reduction in phosphorus in runoff by 2025, with an interim goal of 20 percent by 2020.
