Erie drinking water not very susceptible to algae toxin

by David Bruce, Erie Times-News Erie's drinking water is not as susceptible to the algae-induced toxin that caused Toledo, Ohio, to issue a water-use ban Saturday. That's because Erie Water Works' intake pipes are about one and a half miles north of Presque Isle State Park in 35 to 40 feet of water, said Paul Vojtek, Erie Water Works chief executive. Toledo's intake pipes are near the mouth of the Maumee River, close to shore. http://www.goerie.com/erie-drinking-water-not-very-susceptible-to-algae-toxin
